What Does a Yoga Teacher Eat??

What does a yoga teacher eat? Nothing!! We live off sunshine and positive energy. Just Kidding!! Every teacher is different. Many yoga teachers strictly follow the yama of ahimsa (non-violence). Others don't. It really is an individual choice. I bring this up because I'm reevaluating my own food choices lately based on what makes my body feel the best. I've realized that my body does not appreciate when I eat lots of dairy. I'm lactose intolerant and I can take the little tablets which helps but I've discovered that the less dairy I eat the better I feel. So I've switched to almond milk and just trying to not prepare as many dishes that require cheese. I still want to make sure I get enough calcium so I know I need to do a bit of research on alternative forms of calcium. As for meat, I used to be a vegetarian but then married a very meat and potatoes man, got pregnant and my veggie loving ways fell to the wayside. Now that I'm single I have the freedom to prepare exactly what I want to eat and what I feel my kids should eat. I'm not sure I'm ready to be complete vegetarian but if I want to eat a piece of chicken or even a hamburger to make sure that it is clean, local, organic and grew in a field of sunflowers and clover while magical elves serenaded them with show tunes. You get my point. I feel like if I eat responsibly my body and my conscious will thank me for it. What are your thoughts fellow yogis? To eat meat or not eat meat, that is the question. Until next time, love and lollipops!!
