I've been teaching this reading class the last week and it has really taken a lot out of me. I'm teaching 6th graders which I assumed were still very much like elementary age kids (my forte). Boy was I wrong!! They are very worldly and sassy. It has been very disheartening to my spirit. Today I was able to hang around after class and talk to some of the other teachers. The good thing I learned was that they were having the same experiences in their classes and were absolutely drained by the end of the day. The sad thing is that we are all teachers who love teaching and if you saw us at the end of the teaching day you would be so afraid. All of our faces are drained of energy and we just look and feel defeated. I will be happy at the end of the week when it is over. I'm always thankful for new opportunitues and certainly opportunities that challenge me and lead me to grow as a person but .... I think I'm done growing for awhile!!
We've talked about the Yamas and Niyamas and just to close out our leson on true blue yoga, I will just list out the last of the limbs.
Asanas-postures
Pranayama-mindful breathing
Pratyahara- turning inward
Dharna- concentration
Dhyana- meditation
Samadhi-union of self with the object of meditation
Put it all together, stir it up and you've got yoga. You can call yoga Ashtanga, Vinyasa, power, prenatal or children's yoga but essentially all yoga should follow these not guidelines but essentially suggestions for uniting body, mind, spirit and living your best life!! Until next time my friends, love and lollipops.
