Hello World

Starting a brand new blog today. This is my second blog I've ever created and have to say it's a lot like giving birth except way easier and less messy. Hope you will travel with me as a give you a peek into my life as a children's yoga teacher. Since it is the first day I will use this as an opportunity to get on my soapbox, but just for a minute. Why do I teach children's yoga and why is it important? I teach children's yoga because I entered the universe as a dancer. I've been a dancer since I could walk (I promise ask my parents). I've always been a kinesthetic person so movement is how I express myself and how I feel most at peace. After teaching dance for awhile and performing with some local companies I took a break to have two of the most perfect children on the planet! When I tried to return to dancing I realized that my body, mind and spirit weren't focused on teaching young dancers how to do tricks for competitions. I still needed to move so that is when I truly discovered yoga. I still needed to teach and be around young people so when I realized I could get certified to teach children's yoga I thought ahhh perfect!!! Even though I've only been teaching children's yoga for a short time it feels like I've been doing it my whole life. I do believe that the universe trains you up for where you need to be so in a way I have been preparing for this moment my whole life. So, in a nutshell, I teach children's yoga because I love it and this is what I'm supposed to be doing. If you want to dig deeper, I teach children's yoga because I love children and I'm very concerned about the health of children in the United States. Childhood obesity, diabetes and other health issues that were once unheard of in children are continually on the rise. I firmly believe that when you are a child your life should be nothing but lollipops, and rainbows. For a lot of our kids their lives are so far removed from the innocence and carefree life that childhood should be. If I can help a child feel better for the small time they are in my class or equip them with skills they can use to deal with stress, teach them healthy behaviors etc, than I'm using my time wisely on this planet. So that is me. Until next time my friends, love and lollipops!
